Meditation & the Physical Body
Do You Feel That?
When people think about meditation, such words as calm, peace and tranquility come to mind. We can reap many internal benefits by regularly practicing meditation. In addition, it is less commonly known that meditation also provides physical relief and benefits.
Research shows that meditation may help manage symptoms of illnesses such as Chronic Pain, High Blood Pressure and even Cancer. How can you start feeling the physical positive impact of meditation, today?
As with anything in life, progress takes time but practice is key. Firstly begin by recording your symptoms, pain scores and emotions in the form of a diary. Write down how long you meditated for, as well as what type (e.g - guided mediation). Afterwards, make note of how you felt both emotionally and physically.
Ask yourself these four important questions:
1. Am I more mindful now of where my pain and symptoms stem from?
2. How can I show love and appreciation to my body for working so hard?
3. Do I now have more clarity surrounding my illness?
4. Do I truly feel what my body is trying to tell me?
As time goes by, you will become more aware of your physical body. You will have the ability to understand your health struggles and heal. Now is the time to take control by learning to be mindful of your body.
Then clearly say... I can feel that.
